Amaranth!

Ever heard of Amaranth or it's cousin Quinoa? They are small grains that were used by the Inca's and called food of the Gods. They are the highest of grains in proteins and are great to be used in baking and ground into flour. When they are small plants, you can eat the leaves in a salad. I decided to try them as a new plant in my garden this year. They grew great! They were about 8 feet tall and had huge red tops that turned into the seed heads! I shook the seeds out and gave them to friends who have chickens for feed. My first try was a success. I don't think I will have to plant them again as I now have amaranth coming up all over the garden :)
