Caleb's Special Present to Michael

Michael's birthday was June 1st and Caleb sent his Grandpa a special message!

Baskets of Berries

Our blackberries and Marion berries are in full swing. This was Monday's picking, about three gallons! Michael's berry smoothies are wonderful!

We also picked our first tomatoes June 2. Here is Monday's harvest, some tomatoes, cucumbers, and Romaine lettuce. Can you tell dinners are salads these days! We should pick our first green beans tomorrow.

Southern Virginia University Education Conference

One of our favorite weekends each year is going to the Southern Virginia University Education Conference. It's about a 4 1/2 drive but it's a beautiful drive and Michael and I love the get away time together. We stay in their dorms and they include food in the price so it's a very inexpensive trip and one I'd much rather do than be in crowds an other functions. A few of the people we heard from include Richard and Linda Eyre, Michael Goodman, Charles Knutson and Scott and Angelle Anderson. We also had a concert given by Marvin Goldstein and Vanessa Joy.

This year's theme was Family . . . Forever. Every speaker was just wonderful. Here are a few quote that stuck out to me:
**God sees things differently than we do. That is why we have faith in him. We can trust Him and His vision.
**The great council in heaven was really a great single adult conference in the skies! We shouted for joy but here many just shout!
**Quoted Jeffrey R. Holland on priorities: A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself: Are you sealed to it or have you made a covenant to it? If not, all other things are secondary.
Any my favorite:
**Quoted President Monson: NEVER let a problem to be solved become more important than the person to be loved.

They also put on the play Man of La Mancha for us put on by students and it was fantastic and complete with a small student orchestra.

We are already planning to go ahead next year!
